To eat....or not to eat....
Interesting... this whole being aware of eating 'thing'.
I didn't realize how UNaware I was!! I didn't even consider that I 'craved' anything because if I wanted something, I would just eat it. So there. :P
So, I often find myself unprepared for the actual hunger I am now feeling instead of the whimsical hunger of cravings. Waiting too long to eat is a bad thing because it brings about limited choices and usually not very good ones. Like today, actually. I am finishing the process of organizing my room and work area so was hyper-focused on the task at hand. I realized at noon that I hadn't eaten yet! Bad Michele. Luckily, Slimalicious shakes are easy to whip up so I made one with instant coffee and had a Frozen Mocha!! I'll talk more about Slimalicious at the end of this post.
So, I took a quick break and felt like I was eating ice cream :) Well, then, later in the day, I had errands to run. It took me longer than I wanted and all of a sudden, I was HUNNNNGRY!!! And legitimately so! I hadn't eaten in 5 hours!! Well, I still had one stop before I was done and knew that on a different day, I could wait but it wouldn't be a good idea this time. So to the fast food place I went. Dang.
This is going to take some practice.
I'm giving myself some grace and mercy about the whole thing because this is such a big change but it's still a little frustrating. Tomorrow's another day and another chance to make good/better choices.
So.... Slimalicious...
I have found a meal replacement that is good and very good for you. There are many good things in it like pre-biotics and pro-biotics and many other good things that would take too long to list. It does have 2 appetite suppressants in it that have an interesting effect on me. Like I said, I didn't think of myself having 'cravings' because I just ate whatever I wanted. Well, now, things that aren't good for me just aren't that appealing! I've only had chocolate once in the last 2 1/2 weeks where before, I was eating it almost daily!! And now, since it's legitimate hunger I'm feeling, I'm actually thinking about what would be good to eat instead of just grabbing something to get rid of the hunger feeling and make me feel full! I'm feeling healthier too, which is hard to describe really. My 'system' is working better too - - if ya get my drift :) I usually replace one meal a day with Slimalicious but sometimes I have 2.
I'll be sharing my 'recipes' with you in the days to come. For today, I can tell you how I made my Frozen Mocha. I used 8 ice cubes (usually I use 6 but I wanted it thicker), 8 ounces or so of milk - regular or soy - (I don't really measure, I just pour some in the blender), a scoop of Slimalicious and a heaping teaspoon of instant coffee. Blend really really well in the blender and there you have it!
I should've taken a picture of my Mocha but... I was hungry....

It's the first post! Woot! (9 pounds down already)
Well, it's time for a change. I knew this time would come and I'm looking forward to it!!
Ten years ago, I lost 50 pounds and, although I had more to lose, there were changes in my life that took my focus away from me and my weight loss. The really cool thing is - I have kept the weight off for 10 years! Yay me!! :) But now things have changed again and it's time to not only lose the rest of the weight for the sake of the weight (50 - 60 pounds) but also for my health. I not only want to look like a "Hot Gramma" (har har) but I want to be the healthiest "Almost 50 yr old" I can be so I can stick around to watch my family grow and be a part of their lives and have an active, full life of my own.
So, although I changed my eating habits a few weeks ago, tonight was Exercise Day One. Tonight was 12 minutes of stretching but it was faster paced than I thought and I re-acquainted myself was some muscle groups I thought had moved out of the vicinity. heehee. The first night is always alot of "Wait...what?? ... put my hand...where??...." But I kept up as best I could!
I also mowed the lawn earlier today and burned off more calories and fat outta those fat cells! Woot! :) I made sure I drank plenty of water but now I'm feeling a bit waterlogged and something salty sounds really good. I'm trying to listen to my body and, after all that water, maybe something salty isn't a bad idea soooo....what to eat?? So many salty choices.... But I decided to choose wisely and it's satisfying the salty craving:
Cheddar Cheese Rice Snacks! They're pretty much mini rice cakes with cheddar cheese powdery stuff LOL Yummmmm... They did the trick!
Tomorrow - the eating plan :) Talk to you then!
